Best Things to Do in Gili Trawangan

Gili’s Big 5 Wildlife

Reef Sharks
Blacktip and whitetip reef sharks cruise the deeper reef edges, especially around Shark Point.
Shy and harmless, they’re an incredible sight to spot underwater.

Sea Turtles
Green and hawksbill turtles are often seen gliding over the reef, especially at Turtle Point.
Watch them calmly and always keep a respectful distance.

Gili Deer
Not what you expect on a tropical island — but they’re here. A small herd lives in the quieter inland areas of Gili Trawangan and sometimes appears at dusk.

Gili Horses
With no motorbikes or cars, horses are part of daily island life. Look for ethical stables like Stud Horse Riding and Rescue that prioritise proper care and welfare.

Blue-Ringed Octopus
Small, striking and highly venomous, this fascinating creature flashes bright blue rings when threatened.
Beautiful to see — but strictly no touching.
